Training Opportunities for Service Providers

by Jan 15, 2021Legal0 comments

As part of the Community Leadership in Justice Fellowship of the Law Foundation of Ontario at Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto, Ms. Deepa Mattoo will deliver a series of service-provider trainings. Social service providers are invited to host a free training, led by Ms. Mattoo, on the issue of gender-based violence and precarious immigration status. An accompanying training toolkit will provide information on issues affecting racialized women who are precarious immigrants in Canada, by exploring the relationships between race, gender, and immigration status.

Training will be available from July 2017 onwards, and the format of training delivery can be adjusted to accommodate small and large groups. The training format takes a “train-the-trainer” approach so that service providers can easily adapt the training to meet specific location and agency needs.

The residential fellowship is in community partnership with Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic and Rights of Non-Status Women’s Network (RNSWN).  Ms. Mattoo is the Director of Legal Services at the Schlifer Clinic and an organizing member of RNSWN.

If you are interested in arranging a training session for your group or organization, please contact Deepa Mattoo ([email protected]) or Faith-Ann Mendes ([email protected]) for more information.
