The Mississauga City Council unanimously passed the motion today to support the Schlifer Clinic in our effort to seek an injunction to retain and prevent the destruction of data collected through the former long-gun registry.

The motion was presented by Councillor Bonnie Crombie and reads as follows: “That the City of Mississauga support the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic and the City of Toronto in their efforts to seek an injunction in Ontario Superior Court to preserve the data already collected in Ontario by the long-gun registry and to prevent its destruction.”

“Mississauga’s City Council has declared on multiple occasions that it supports gun control and the retention of records from the long-gun registry,” said Crombie. “By passing today’s motion, Council again sends a strong message that action must be taken and this invaluable data must be protected.”
