The Clinic uniquely offers legal, counselling and interpretation services to marginalized populations of women who have survived violence all under one roof. Our experienced lawyers, counsellors and interpreters have years of training, come from a range of backgrounds, and have helped women from many diverse communities in many kinds of situations. We are here for you when you are ready to talk.

Legal office of Deepa Mattoo at BSCC

We provide free legal services to women who have experienced violence and abuse. Our lawyers believe your experiences of violence are important and that you deserve the protections of the law.

We offer trauma-informed group-based and individual counselling programs. We will help you with the practical aspects of either leaving or remaining in an abusive situation, support you as you attend to the aftermath of a recent, past or childhood sexual abuse or incest.

Interpretation and Translation Services

If English is not your first language, our interpreters speak more than 200 languages. Their services are free for women who need to talk about violence.

What happens when you call?

  1. Our intake counsellor will briefly outline the Clinic’s mandate and avaliable services.
  2. You will be asked a number of questions to assess if we can provide you with the types of services you are looking for.
  3. If we are able to provide you with the services you need, the intake counsellor will gather basic information about you and your situation to assess your immediate needs and to determine next steps.

Central intake assesses whether you need to be referred to a trauma-informed counsellor, legal intake or a family court support worker. If you are looking for family court support, but do not live in or have court in Toronto, you will be re-directed to the agency that offers the same program in your area.
