Thank you, to our exceptional volunteers!

Today is International Volunteer Day and it is a global celebration of volunteers. This day is a day to shine light on the impact of volunteer efforts everywhere especially those who choose to volunteer at the  Clinic.

Volunteers like you are leading social change around the world. On behalf of the staff, board and clients: THANK YOU for all the amazing work you do each and every day to help the women we serve build lives free from violence.Frances has been volunteering with the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic since August 2015, acting as the first point of contact for clients who drop-in or call the Clinic. She works in the family law courts, helping people navigate complex court procedures and access other crucial resources and services. Frances was previously part of SACOMSS (the Sexual Assault Centre of the McGill Students’ Society) and assisted in the creation of McGill University’s first ever sexual assault policy.

“The most important thing I have learned volunteering with the Schlifer Clinic is that the women who come to us are active participants in the Clinic’s work, not only recipients of our services. This lesson continues to inform my work in the courts, and my understanding of feminism, autonomy and self-determination in all areas of my life. My favourite part of being at the Clinic is being surrounded by inspiring women who are deeply committed to their work, and fiercely kind to each other.”
