Group Counselling

The Schlifer Clinic offers several open and closed counselling groups throughout the year.

Information on the groups is available below, including how to register if registration is required.  Please check back regularly to learn of added groups, or follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to receive updates.

There is strength in numbers. Sometimes the best thing is to sit down with other women and gender diverse people who are also in your situation and learn from each other how to cope and recover.

Art Immersion (8-week group)

Join us for an 8-week in-person Art Therapy group, that focuses on creativity and healing in the community. Try out new ideas inspired by mindfulness, poetry, art-making, and community conversations. Learn new art techniques and connect with yourself and others in a creative, collaborative, and trauma-informed space. The group is open to women and gender-diverse survivors of violence.

  • Art supplies provided.
  • No previous group or art-making experience is needed.
  • Registration and pre-group assessment are required.
  • Sessions are offered in English.
  • Interpreters are available upon request.
  • A $25 Gift Card is offered for participation.

Somaticized Grief & Loss (6-week group)

Join us for an 6-week virtual group, “Somaticized Grief & Loss,” We will work through the five stages of grief and learn how loss can be a transformative experience. The group for racialized women and gender-diverse survivors of violence.

  • No previous experience is required.
  • Pre-assessment is required.
  • Sessions are offered in English.
  • Interpreters are available upon request.
  • A $25 Gift Card is offered for participation.

Golden Threads: Learning to Love Our Broken Parts –  (8-week group)

Join us for an 8-week in-person group, embarking on a transformative journey towards resilience through the process of mask-making and pottery mending. Rooted in the philosophy of Kintsugi, ‘Golden Threads: Learning to Love Our Broken Parts’ honors the Japanese art of mending pottery with gold, celebrating imperfections as part of a transformative journey toward resilience, strength, and the profound beauty that arises from the healing of one’s unique narrative.

Participants will also engage in mask-making, an expressive activity unveiling different facets of their identity. Through the combined practices of Kintsugi and mask-making, participants will create tangible works of art to cultivate a deeper sense of their resilience and authentic selves. The group is open to women and gender-diverse survivors of violence.
