You're not alone
The Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic offers legal, counselling and interpretation services to marginalized and racialized populations of women who have survived violence.
The Clinic is committed to helping diverse women (self identified), non-binary, intersex, and Two Spirit people live free from violence by offering a variety of services. Our diverse, skilled and compassionate staff come from a range of backgrounds, and have helped women from diverse communities navigate many kinds of complex situations.
“On the background of lost life, it is easy to see how the gender-based violence crisis is like a virus that has been eating away at the rights of women for centuries, causing loss of dignity and death.”
The Clinic takes a multi-faceted approach to eradicating violence against women through its services, public education and advocacy efforts. Special Projects play an integral role in filling identified gaps in service provision experienced by the racialized and marginalized populations to whom we provide our services.
The Clinic offers a number of resources that are available to download. In addition we host a number of trainings, webinars, seminars and events that are geared toward educating the public on issues relavant to gender-based violence.
The Clinic is a resource on legal issues relevant to victims of violence. We raise our voice on a number of important legal issues so that all women can build lives free from violence, and provide expertise to other community agencies working with women experiencing violence.
The Clinic actively works with all levels of government, UN agencies, and international bodies to change the social conditions that generate and perpetuate violence against women.
