Barbara Schlifer Commemorative Clinic Invites You to the 4th Annual SHE MATTERS 2025
Toronto, ON– Have you heard? The Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic is hosting its 4th annual SHE MATTERS Fundraising Brunch on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Waterworks Food Hall! SHE MATTERS signifies a powerful convergence of community solidarity, honouring Barbra Teena Schlifer, whose life was tragically lost to violence while also shining a light on the vital work of the Clinic. It is a tribute to the courage of women and gender-diverse individuals whose lives have been touched by violence, amplifying their voices and experiences.
Last year, on March 24, 2024, we welcomed over 150 guests at Second Floor Events, raising more than $51,000 to support the Clinic’s essential services. This was a testament to the incredible support and dedication of our community. Attendees enjoyed a vibrant afternoon filled with meaningful networking opportunities, connecting with others and learning more about the Clinic’s impactful work. The silent auction became a highlight, with guests enthusiastically outbidding each other, showcasing their commitment to the Clinic’s cause. To top it all off, attendees savoured delicious food and drinks, making the afternoon even more enjoyable.

This year’s SHE MATTERS event will be emceed by Janice Liu and Isabella Ianetta, will feature an exclusive permanent bracelet stand by Kind Karma Company and an exciting silent auction filled with incredible packages. Guests will unite for an inspiring afternoon filled with celebration, support, and empowerment, creating lasting connections while making a meaningful impact. The event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from the Clinic’s service providers about the profound impact we have on the lives of those we serve.

Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic is a specialized clinic for women and gender-diverse people experiencing violence, established in memory of Barbra Teena Schlifer who was an idealistic young lawyer who was murdered in Toronto on the day of her call to the Bar of Ontario, April 11, 1980. The Clinic offers trauma-informed legal services and representation, counselling and multilingual interpretation, and drives system transformation to support women and gender diverse people who have experienced violence. Rooted in the foundations of intersectionality, innovation, and a client-centred approach, we foster the skills and resilience of the people we serve and amplify their voices to create individual and collective change.
